On 2 July 2021, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Dr. Natee Ratchakitprakarn, Chair of the Committee of Advisors to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Khemmapol Auitayakul, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) visited communities to test tourism products and services as part of the 7 Greens Travel: Amazing Day Trip in Phuket which is a low carbon tourism program focused on activities within communities. The project followed the BCG Model and was a part of the initiative to promote low carbon tourism and knowledge about climate change through the MoU between TAT, the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association or TEATA, and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization or TGO.
The tourism program also aimed to promote tourism without causing a negative effect on the environment with programs designed by TAT and TEATA to urge tourists to immerse in new experiences through various activities under the responsible tourism concept and 7 Greens Concept to ensure sustainable tourism. Activities ranged from learning about the way of life of the Orang Laut people who lived on the seashore at Laem Tukkae, tasting Michelin-star cuisine made from local ingredients, to CSR activities that included collecting trash in the mangrove forest and releasing barramundi and small flower crabs into ocean to raise the level of greenhouse gas resources in the blue carbon ecosystem.
