Mr. Phiphat presided over the preparatory meeting before the opening of Phuket Sandbox on 1st July, 2021

          Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, together with Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, Advisor to Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Khemmapol Auitayakul, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports and Mr. Chote Trachu, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports, attended the meeting with Mr. Pichet Panaphong, Deputy Governor of Phuket, to prepare for the opening of Phuket Sandbox on 1st July, 2021.

          Mr. Phiphat stated that on 1st July, 2021, Phuket Sandbox will be 100% ready to open and welcome the first tourists to visit Thailand, following a previous meeting with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ministry of Interior, Phuket Police Tourist Division, Phuket Provincial Police Station, Immigration Bureau, Thai Marine Police Division, Marine Department, Thai Customs Department and related agencies.

          It is estimated that the first 3 months (July - September 2021) will generate revenue of 9 billion Baht from 100,000 tourists who will travel under the Phuket Sandbox project. It is expected that the arrival of tourists in the first month will encourage others who are in the process of deciding or who previously canceled a trip, to travel again to Thailand.
