Minister Phiphat said, The prime minister has announced the policy to support Thailand to host a world-class trail event with the objective to promote the nations natural resources through sports tourism as well as explore another new channel of income for Thailand. The first successful world-class trail was the Thailand by UTMB trail which was held on Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai Province, putting Thailand on the map as one of the trails in the World Series. Today we are announcing another wonderful opportunity in which the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) reveals that the Amazean Jungle Trail will be organized at Betong District, Yala Province, on 6-8 May 2022 with the determination to put this trail on the map as Thailands second world-class trail.
On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, I would like to express my gratitude to the SBPAC who placed their trust in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, as well as other agencies that are co-organizing the event. I sincerely hope that this race will open new doors for the sports industry in the Southern Border Provinces and play a role in welcoming visitors from Thailand and around the world. At the same time, I strongly believe that this trail will successfully qualify for the world-class trail and generate fame and economic benefits for the province in the same way that Thailand by UTMB had for Chiang Mai Province.
Rear Admiral Somkiat Pholprayoon, Secretary-General of Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) said, During the meeting of the Strategic Committee on Development of the Southern Border Provinces, the meeting agreed to carry out the Prime Ministers policy on developing Betong District, Yala Province, as the model city through the Amazean Jungle Trail. The project is a key government policy that will uplift the quality of life for locals in the Southern Border Provinces in line with the slogan of Stable, Affluent, and Sustainable Triangle.
The objective of the event is to promote the image of Betong and its tourism industry, especially for sports tourism, to reach international standards. With the trail, Betong will become a new destination for runners around the world and will generate economic value to the Southern Border Provinces. Moreover, we will promote the Amazean Jungle Trail to become one of the world-class trails in the near future.
The Amazean Jungle Trial is a race to qualify the trail as one of the World Series trail. If the race is a success, the trail will be the second in Thailand after the Thailand by UTMB trail in Chiang Mai Province. The Amazean Jungle Trail will be organized on 6-8 May 2022, with the starting point at Betong Mongkolrit Tunnel, Betong District, Yala Province.
